National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation Names Carole Fisher as President
Appointment is a turning point for the voice of 72 not-for-profit community-based hospice and palliative care providers providing advanced illness care in the home
[Washington, D.C.] (January 13, 2021) – The National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), the national voice for not-for-profit hospice and palliative care providers that care for care more than 100,000 people facing advanced illness and their families each day, today announced that Carole Fisher has been appointed as the new President of the organization. Tom Koutsoumpas, who co-founded NPHI in 2014 and has since been president and CEO of NPHI will continue to serve as CEO.
Fisher has more than 35 years’ experience leading and transforming for-profit and mission driven healthcare organizations. She is a recognized advisor, innovator and public policy advocate and previously served as Chief Strategy Officer at NPHI as well as President and CEO of Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.
“At a time when our country is facing unprecedented grief and loss as well as increasing preference to receive care for advanced illness at home in light of overwhelmed hospitals and limited visitation policies, Carole’s transformation and clinical background are an important asset to the hundreds of thousands of patients,” said Koutsoumpas. “She is uniquely poised to advance the priorities of our nation’s not-for-profit hospice palliative and advanced illness care. “
Utilizing her previous experiences and deep familiarity with not-for-profit community-based hospice and palliative healthcare, she is charged with leading a wide range of activities. These include developing strategic partnerships and collaborations, transformational innovations, and best practices exchange among the NPHI membership.
In her new role, Fisher will be responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of NPHI. In her work with NPHI thus far, Fisher has helped to gain recognition for the organization as a nationally known industry leader respected for its clinical advancements and innovations. With an emphasis on developing strategic partnerships, meaningful collaborations and transformational innovations, Fisher provides support for the NPHI membership comprised of the nations’ most notable and distinguished end of life healthcare organizations.

NPHI has been an active advocate for the availability of a crucial safety net for the sickest, most vulnerable patients that is only possible through not-for-profit hospice and palliative organizations. Amidst the pandemic, the organization has announced collaborations that will improve cardiac care at home, improve mental health support of healthcare workers, and made steps to address health disparities.
Under Fisher’s leadership in her previous role at Nathan Adelson Hospice, the organization was recognized eight years by Modern Healthcare Magazine as a 100 Best Places to Work in the country. Prior to this, she held roles advancing behavioral healthcare companies and oversaw a large multi-specialty provider group owned and operated by Sierra Health Services, later acquired by United Health Care.
Fisher holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and attained a Masters Certification in Organizational Leadership from the Thayer Institute in Asheville, North Carolina. She serves as an adjunct faculty member for Teleios University and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Thayer Institute. Previously she served on the Board of Directors for MountainView Hospital – a subsidiary of HCA, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Foundation, Health Insight, UNLV Health Law Program Advisory Board and the Nevada Hospital Association.
Ms. Fisher spends her time working between her homes in Las Vegas, Nevada and Covington, Louisiana.
