NPHI Introduces New Director of Regulatory and Compliance Strategies
Today, the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) was thrilled to welcome and introduce to the membership, our newest staff member, Linda Pilla. Linda brings over three decades of experience assisting health care providers, specifically those in the post-acute care space, in the areas of risk assessment and mitigation and compliance program development. She has vast experience in the hospice industry, including previous serving as the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to a global home health care and hospice organization where she was responsible for the design, development, implementation and oversight of enterprise risk, audit and compliance programs.
This Member Engagement call offered Linda an opportunity to introduce herself to the membership and provide a brief presentation on recent audit and enforcement activity within the context of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This session also provided members with an opportunity to discuss other top of mind issues and ask questions of Linda and other NPHI staff regarding regulatory and compliance-related issues.
“We are thrilled to finally and formally introduce Linda Pilla to the NPHI membership and welcome her into the family. Linda will provide our members with a treasure trove of valuable knowledge and experience in handling complex legal, regulatory, and compliance related matters,” said Tom Koutsoumpas, CEO of NPHI. “As NPHI continues to grow, we are committed to remaining relentless in our pursuit of talented and experienced professionals to add to our team who share in the core mission of positioning members to provide patients and their families with the highest quality advanced illness care in the nation – Linda will play a critical role in helping us do just that.”
The conversation, entitled “NPHI Member Engagement Call: Recent Audit and Enforcement Activity”, was part of a biweekly series of NPHI-hosted discussions to address today’s pressing hospice topics through engagement with health policy experts, thought leaders, and other industry innovators.
The discussion was meant to present and educate NPHI’s membership on the current landscape of health care compliance enforcement audits. Linda discussed whether “quality is a compliance issue”, the impact of COVID-19 on the federal government’s ability to investigate and prosecute compliances cases, and strategies for handling UPIC actions, among other topics.
