NPHI Facilitates Discussion Aimed at Discussing Proactive Strategies to External Audits
Today, the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI) was thrilled to welcome our very own Linda Pilla, Director of Regulatory and Compliance Strategies, NPHI. Linda joined the organization just over three weeks ago and brings with her an abundance of experience assisting post-acute care providers in the arenas of risk assessment and mitigation and compliance program development. As part of her role, NPHI will offer webinars, much like the one today, with the goal of educating member programs on the operational tactics for implementing an effective audit response strategy, including necessary steps to prepare for and manage external audit touches. This session also provided members with an opportunity to discuss other top of mind issues and ask questions of Linda regarding contemporary regulatory and compliance-related issues.
“With the addition of Linda to our growing team, we are now able to offer nuanced and detailed guidance to our member programs regarding the strategies and action plans they should have in place to effectively handle the burden of medical reviews and audits,” said Tom Koutsoumpas, CEO of NPHI. “Today is the second of many future opportunities for our members to learn from Linda’s immense knowledge and operational experience as they work through complex regulatory and compliance issues.”
The conversation, entitled “NPHI Member Engagement Call: Proactive Strategies to External Audits”, was part of a biweekly series of NPHI-hosted discussions to address today’s pressing hospice topics through engagement with health policy experts, thought leaders, and other industry innovators.
The discussion was meant to present and educate NPHI’s membership on the hospice audit contractor landscape, the major risk areas for post-acute care providers, responding audits when they come, understanding common claims denial criteria, and the 60-day overpayment rule. Linda also discussed the Unified Program Integrity Contractor (UPIC) audits in detail, among many other topics. Please click here to learn more about this series or how to become an NPHI member.
