WASHINGTON — The National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), the national voice for nonprofit advanced illness care, is pleased to welcome four new members to our innovative, mission-driven community: Hospice of the Piedmont, Hospice of Wichita Falls (HOWF), Montgomery Hospice & Prince George’s Hospice, and Stillwater Hospice. These organizations exemplify the dedication and care that NPHI members stand for, strengthening our commitment to mission-driven, nonprofit end-of-life care services across the nation.
Hospice of the Piedmont has been offering compassionate care and support since 1980. As a community-based nonprofit, Hospice of the Piedmont is dedicated to providing the broadest range of services to all, ensuring that no one is left without the care they need. Their commitment goes beyond patient care, reaching the entire community through grief and bereavement services available to anyone in need, regardless of their connection to hospice. They take a holistic approach with unique programs such as Music by the Bedside, Front Porch Music, and the Charlottesville Threshold Singers, where live music provides comfort and peace to patients and loved ones. Their offerings also include massage and Reiki therapy for both patients and caregivers, as well as a volunteer-led pet therapy program, bringing joy and comfort through interactions with therapy dogs. Hospice of Wichita Falls (HOWF), the first and only nonprofit hospice in Northern West Texas, will soon celebrate its 40th anniversary, serving a 12-county area with unparalleled dedication. In October 2023, HOWF opened the Philbin-Prothro Inpatient Care Center, a state-of-the-art facility featuring 24 spacious Care Suites designed to provide a home-like environment for patients and their loved ones. HOWF also extends its commitment to the community through no-cost Grief Support Services, including Camp Grin Again, a camp where children and teens are encouraged to express their feelings and share experiences, and the Rainbow Bridge Memorial Service, a special tribute for those grieving the loss of a beloved pet. Montgomery Hospice & Prince George’s Hospice has been a trusted presence in Maryland since 1981. Initially serving Montgomery County, they expanded to Prince George’s County in 2019 to form Montgomery Hospice & Prince George’s Hospice, extending their compassionate care to a broader community. Accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Partners (CHAP), they provide Hospice at Home care, Casey House—Montgomery County’s only 14-bed inpatient hospice facility, Montgomery Kids specialized pediatric hospice, and free bereavement support in both counties. Their unique services, including spiritual counseling, Reverie Harp therapy, and aromatherapy, are designed to bring comfort and healing to patients and families. Their services support over 4,000 individuals across 12 counties, offering hospice care in homes, senior living apartments, assisted living, and skilled nursing communities, along with palliative consultations for those managing serious or chronic conditions. For those needing extra support, Stillwater’s 14-bed inpatient Hospice Home in Fort Wayne provides 24/7 care. To extend compassionate support to the broader community, the Peggy F. Murphy Community Grief Center offers individual counseling, grief programming, and support groups, helping adults and families navigate loss. Learn more at: https://stillwater-hospice.org/.
