NPHI Welcomes Hospice of the Foothills

The National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation (NPHI), the national voice for not-for-profit hospice providers, welcomes Hospice of the Foothills (HOF) as one of its newest members.

Founded in 1979, HOF began as an all-volunteer operation, providing services to communities in Nevada and Placer counties. The organization has since evolved into a professional, interdisciplinary care team serving approximately 500 patients and families per year in Western Nevada County and the surrounding community.

“We are excited to welcome Hospice of the Foothills as we work together to  further improve hospice care for aging populations,” said Tom Koutsoumpas, NPHI CEO. “Hospice of Foothills’ core values – integrity, compassion, and respect – reflect the organization’s dedication to putting the patient and their families at the center of care.”

HOF offers symptom and pain control, comfort, spiritual connection, psychological support, and support for loved ones of people affected by life-limiting illness or grief. Services include patient and family support, advanced care planning, grief support, and volunteer services. The organization is also a Level Four partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering program developed by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) that addresses the unique needs of our nation’s veterans who face life-limiting illnesses. In addition to its programs and services, HOF focuses on outreach, collaboration, education, and forming partnerships with others in the community.

“Hospice of the Foothills is pleased to become a member of NPHI and is looking forward to developing partnerships, collaborations and sharing best practices with other not-for-profit hospice organizations nationwide who provide exceptional care in their communities,” said Viv Tipton, Executive Director. “Together we will work to establish high quality hospice care standards, driven by patient and family needs.”

NPHI looks forward to working with Hospice of the Foothills and continuing to advocate for high-quality, community-based, not-for-profit hospice, palliative, advanced illness care to patients throughout the nation.
